Transforming the Lives of Children in Ukraine

Ukraine Children’s Aid Fund (UCAF) is registered in the USA as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization comprised of compassionate partners willing to invest their time, talents, and resources to help transform the lives of children in Ukraine who are facing great adversity due to the Russian invasion among many other challenges by funding initiatives that deliver help, hope, and healing to children who live there. We accomplish this by securely channeling financial aid from faithful donors through trustworthy Ukrainian partners to children in need of so much. Since 2004, UCAF has helped meet the needs of many Ukrainian children who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, parental abandonment, and social neglect.

We believe that every human life is endowed with precious worth and something for which people everywhere should seek to preserve, protect, and enhance.

Caring FOR Children

We believe that all children, especially suffering and neglected ones, require the guidance, protection, and provision that only caring adults can provide. Therefore, we intend to direct our energies and donations toward caring FOR such children in ways that meet their practical needs such as food, clothing, healthcare, education, family life, etc.

Caring ABOUT Children

We believe that all children, especially suffering and neglected ones, require caring and nurturing adults to care about them in ways that clearly demonstrate their genuine love for them. Therefore, we intend to direct our energies and donations toward caring ABOUT children by continually learning the many circumstances that impact their overall health.

Maximum Impact

We believe that we are responsible stewards of other people’s generosity.  Therefore, we intend to continually measure and evaluate the degree to which donations are used to their maximum impact, to adjust when and where necessary, and to report the same.

Minimum Barriers

We believe that donors want and expect their donations to accomplish their purpose in the most expedient and least disruptive manner possible. Therefore, we intend to continually evaluate the manner and speed at which donations serve their intended purpose.

Organizational Accountability

We believe that as a charitable not-for-profit organization we are ultimately accountable to every person who donates their time, resources, and finances to care for the needy children in Ukraine. Therefore, we intend to provide progress and financial reports of various kinds that clearly demonstrate how UCAF is operating to that end.

Meet our Team

Jeffrey Ring

Jeffrey Ring is the founder, Executive Director, and Chairman of the Board of UCAF. As this organization’s founder, Jeff has been heavily invested in UCAF both personally and financially since 2004 when he first visited Ukraine as a guest lecturer in the universities there.

Jeff’s responsibilities include overseeing the vision, direction, and finances of UCAF along with all matters related to the board of directors. As a CPA, Jeffrey Ring has more than forty years of public accounting experience and specializes in the field of tax-exempt organizations. A native of Baltimore, Jeff earned a BS in Accounting (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Baltimore in May, 1980, and an MBA from the same institution in May, 2003. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Maryland Association of CPA’s (MACPA).

Michael Chetelat

Michael Chetelat is the Managing Director of UCAF. He and his wife have been personally and financially invested in UCAF since 2005.

Michael has over four decades of business experience and technology expertise to help advance the mission of UCAF. His primary responsibility is to raise as much awareness and funding as possible in order to channel as much financial aid as possible to God’s precious children in Ukraine, especially during this crisis of the Russian invasion.

His other responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of UCAF, directing the energies of UCAF staff, and overseeing the ongoing development of this website.

Serhii Kukushkin

Serhii Kukushkin is the Field Director of UCAF. He and his wife Olga along with their four children now live in Birmingham, AL. They were on vacation in Germany when the Russian invasion took place in February of 2022 and were not permitted to return to Kherson given Russia’s occupation of that territory. Prior to emigrating to the United States, he was a pastor in Kherson and devoted much of his time caring for families living in poverty throughout that region.

He met Jeff Ring while serving as his translator during Jeff’s first visit to Ukraine as a guest lecturer in the universities. His primary responsibility is building relationships with trustworthy partners in various regions in Ukraine in order to help identify children who are in clear need of humanitarian assistance and then ensuring that donor investments assist the children for whom they were intended.
